"No! NO! I can't go through with this!"

Tanya growled in frustration. She'd been slaving over how to hook this guy up with the biggest thorn in her side she'd ever met for forever, and now he was going soft on her? Hell no!

She burst into a cloud of smoke and reformed in front of him, arms crossed sternly over her chest. He jumped back to avoid crashing into her, only to be yanked forward again by his collar. He shut his eyes for a minute to allieviate the whiplash. When he opened them again, he was just under an inch away from her slitted eyes. "Now you listen to me, Kurt Wagner" she said, lowering her vioce in both volume and pitch, "I have worked too hard for too long to hook you two up, and I'll be dammed a hundred times over if I let you chicken out on me now!"

"You've been planning for three days!" Kurt hissed back, shoving her off, "And you're not the one who has to do this! Do you have any idea how terrifying it is to confess a crush?!"

Tanya raised a dark eyebrow. "I have a rough idea, mien friend" she said cryptically. Kurt looked at her in confusion, but she brightened suddenly, grinning like a salesman. "Everything'll be fine!" she assured him, putting her arm around his shoulder and half dragging him down the hall, "I'll be hanging back in smoke form, and if you're really in trouble, I'll bail you out." She poked her head around the corner. Kitty was typing something on the sofa. The soft clickclickclickclickclicking reminded Tanya of how annoying she found Kitty. Still, she's sworn to Kurt that she'd help set them up, and a promise was something she'd been raised to hold sacred. "Especially to him" she added to herself. Painting on her friendliest face, she walked into the living room. "Evening Kitty!" she said brightly, certain that the former wouldn't buy into her rouse. "Hey Tanya," Kitty answered, "is there something you need?"

"Nah," Tanya answered, "I was just wondering if you'd like to take a walk. It's really nice out tonight, you know?" Normally she was a decent liar, but something about Kitty Pryde just got under her skin and made it difficult.  "Umm, all right" Kitty said after a minute. Tanya understood her hesitancy. They'd never been on very great terms. "Well, come on then," Tanya chirpped, "Let's go! We're wasting moonlight!"

The girls walked together in silence for a long while, on edge for different reasons; Kitty was very uncomfortable around the girl that had never been friendly toward her since day one, and Tanya was hoping to God that Kitty didn't realize that the notes she was whistling was morse code telling Kurt where they were. "Make noise" she finally whistled. Kurt shook some tree branches, causing Kitty to jump. "What was that?!" she asked, ducking behind Tanya. "I don't know" the latter answered, more at ease now that she could look more like her usually, slightly battle-ready self, "I'm gonna go check it out. Stay here and scream if you see anything." She ducked behind some trees. "You're clear" she knocked on the tree after Kitty had called out for her. "Kitty?" she heard Kurt say, "Sorry if I scared you. Vat're you doing out here?"

"I was out here with Tanya," Kitty answered, "but I don't know what happened to her."

"Vell, let's see if we can find her" Kurt said. Their footsteps faded into silence as the plan moved forward oh-so-smoothly. With a satisfied little smirk, Tanya faded into smoke and soared above the trees to follow them.

"Are you sure this is the right way?" Kitty asked. "Just stay calm" Kurt thought to himself, "Tanya promised to help if you needed it!" "You know how Tanya is" he answered, "She could've drifted off to anyvere by now.  Ve'll check back at ze institute when we're done here."

"I still don't know if we should be out this far" Kitty said. The trees had begun to close in a while ago, and she found the closeness uncomfortable. "Oh!" Kurt gasped, "I think I know where she is! Come on!" He touched her shoulder and teleported to the place Tanya had instructed him to go.

When Kitty opened her eyes, she was beyond amazed. The trees opened into a small clearing with a pond in the center that shone chrystal in the moonlight. Yellow, pink and purple wildflowers grew along the side of the pond. "Shoot!" Kurt muttered, "I could've sworn she'd be here. Ve'd better keep looking."

"Uh, no!" Kitty said quickly, "Let's... Let's just rest here for a minute. My feet need a break!"

"Well, all right" Kurt agreed playfully, "But only because you asked." He crouched next to her and pretended to watch the almost-full moon. She looked so beautiful with the moonlight reflecting onto her skin.

Kitty tucked a purple flower behind her ear and glanced at Kurt out of the corner of her eye. He didn't have his projector watch on, so his blue fur was visible. The moon made it look silvery. Her eyes strayed toward his three-fingered hand, and she felt and overwhelming urge  to hold it. He seemed to divine her thoughts and squeezed her fingers loosely. His skin felt warm under his soft fur.

They faced each other dirrectly, both slightly taken aback by the other's appearence. Kurt smiled a little. "Your face looks blue" he remarked jokingly. Kitty turned a little closer toward him. "So does yours" she retorted. A light, purple-ish mist began to rise off the water. Kurt touched his forehead against Kitty's, noting the faint blush rising to her cheeks. "You know," she said, "I think the fur's starting to work for me." Kurt smirked. "Told you it would" he teased. It was difficult to say who moved first, but suddenly their mouths were pressed together.

Kurt walked in later, without Kitty on his arm. "Careful Kurt" Tanya teased, flicking the page of her book over, "If your head detatches you'll never get it back". Kurt just sank onto the couch with a dreamy sigh. Tanya rolled her eyes. "Where's Pryde at?" she asked, not looking at Kurt. "Back in her room" he answered.

"Was she asleep when you brought her back?"
"Yah."
Tanya raised a teasing eyebrow. "Did you tuck her in?"
"Yah."
"Gag." She flipped the next page. "By the vay" Kurt said, sitting up from the sound of it, "the mist vas a nice effect."

Tanya looked up at him in confusion. "What mist?"

"Zeh mist zat came off zeh water" Kurt answered, as though it were obvious, "vasn't that you?"

Tanya closed her book. "Kurt, you know I only turn into smoke" she said in mild exasperation. Her hand suddenly dissolved and swirled around Kurt's head before zoming out of the room. Even she looked surprised. A cloud of the purplish mist hovered in a minute later. When her hand reformed, water streamed down her arm. Kurt smiled at her throught narrowed eyes. "Betrayed by my own hand," Tanya said with a joking smile. She started wiping her hand on her shirt. "Lying to a close friend" she said meditatively, "That'll earn me, what, fifty more years in purgatory? So far I'm up to about seventeen hundred." Kurt rolled his eyes. "I'll pray for your soul" he said. "You do that, sir" she answered, cracking her book open again, "I'll put in a good word with the church to have you canonized." Kurt stood and stretched with a huge yawn. "I'm going to bed" he said, "I'll see you in the morning." He vanished in a blast of sulfuric smoke. For a time Tanya just sat with her book, listening to the clock.

Tick. Tick. Tick.
Shlip.
Tick. Tic-

"Oh dear God!" she suddenly gasped. She was already running before her body dissolved and became weightless. She hovered down the hall and stopped at the door to Kurt's room. She threw it open with a deafening SMASH! "KURT!" she barked, expecting the room to be empty. Nightcrawler was crouched in front of his makeshift shrine, or had been until she burst in. "Vas?!" he asked, "Vas' going on?!"

"Uh, nothing" Tanya said, hoping for her heart to spontaneously fail, "I was just...um...making sure you were in your own room, you know?"

Kurt looked confused for a minute, then figured out what she meant. "VAS?!" he gaped, "Vhat kind of perv do you think I am?!"

"The kind that would sneak into Kitty Pryde's room" she answered, still wide-eyed with embarrassment, "And now that I see you're not, I'll say goodnight. Goodnight!" She ducked into the nearest vent and hurried back to her own room, then knelt at the foot of her bed and crossed herself hastilly. "I can't believe I'm this desperate" she thought self-loathingly. She bowed her head and began to mutter under her breath: "God, if you exist, please don't let me wake up tomorrow!"

She recrossed herself, flopped onto her matress and crushed her pillow against the back of her head.
Quick lil' apology Kurtty piece for Rainrach. Apparently he/she took some serious issue with a comment I posted on a Kurt/Kitty picture. So, yeah.

Featuring my oh-so-charming OC Tanya. I may post a profile of her later. Probably no design though, sinse I have no scanner(or tallent :D)

:( This just proves that I can't write fluff for couples I don't ship .(braces for bashing)

Well, I appreciate the gesture! :D! Rachy was just coming to my aid since she knows what a pain it is to get the "I don't like this pairing" comment on something she's worked hard on and something she truly enjoys. If you want to make it up to RACHY you would do better writing her a Lietro fic. However, I :heart:s da Kurtty and I really am happy to see more of it! Very cute fic! Thank you for bringing more kurtty into the world :)
